artist statement

My evolving body of work takes to heart the aphorism “the personal is the universal.” Engaging with themes of fragility, growth, change, strength, the fragmentation and nonlinear nature of memory, I am making myself vulnerable through my works and giving the audience an opportunity to see beneath the surface.  I seek connection through experience and welcome viewers to immerse themselves in activities that foster compassion, understanding, and insight into the others’ experiences as well as their own.  Revealing secrets, hidden impulses, or bringing to light sensitive circumstances, I am exhibiting struggle for personal growth and inviting the audience to begin or continue their own personal evolution.
